A. INTRODUCTION

Meaning of Sonship

Sonship means the state or relationship of being a son or child of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

In Christianity, sonship is not limited to biological children or to males. Through faith in Christ, both males and females can become children of God.

B. WHAT DOES IT MEANS TO BE A SON OF GOD (SONSHIP) Galatians 3:23-29,4:1-7

The Bible teaches that every person who believes in Jesus Christ and accept Him is a child of God. Our relationship with God does not depend on whether we are male or female,or on the race, tribe, nationality or colour of our skin.

According to Paul in his epistle, said;

All human brings created by God are literally referred to as children of God as long as such human brings remain obedient to God. However, this status of being called son of God is lost when the individual starts living in disobedience to God. Due to this disobedience, man initially lost the privilege of being called the child of God.

When Jesus came, he obeyed the law by doing the will of God. He obeyed the law for men to be qualified as children of God. St Paul,in his epistle prove that Christian are children of God as he taught that with the advent of faith, Christian’s are no longer under any dispensation of law.

We as son of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. In Christ Jesus, there is no discrimination,no Jew not Greek. If one is in Christ Jesus, then he is Abraham’s offspring and heir according to promise.

The heir can be compared to a slave because though he own the estate, but he could not exercise control being under a guardian. So when we were children, we were slave to spiritual elements

But at the appointed time,God sent his son who was born of a woman and even under the law to redeem those who were under the law, thus enabling them to receive adoption as son’s leading to freedom through Christ. When we became sons of God, we received the spirit of his son in our hearts and by so doing we are no longer slaves but sons of God and therefore heirs.
